This is my grandfather, Cyril Sheehan — a man whose life, spirit, and grit shaped the very core of who I am. He was more than just family; he was my hero. From the humblest beginnings, he worked tirelessly to carve out a better life, starting at just eight years old out of sheer necessity. Eventually, through determination and perseverance, he built his own trucking company from the ground up.

Some of my fondest memories are of biking out to his cottage in Rivière-Beaudette every weekend. Without fail, he’d greet me with a sparkle in his eye and the same question: “You feeling strong, kid?” If I said yes, he’d say, “Good — we’ve got lots of work to do.” If I said no, he’d just grin and say, “That’s too bad — we’ve still got lots of work to do.” He always had a job for me, whether I wanted it or not — but more importantly, he always had something to teach me. From tying a tie to building a deck, he showed me how to work hard, do it right, and never give up.

So much of what I’ve built comes from the values he instilled in me: hard work, resilience, and doing things with heart. There’s no better way to carry his legacy forward than by putting his name on the front door and into the heart of this community.

This one’s for you, Poppa. Your hands built your future — and helped build mine, too.
